Read How Many People Were Killed During Governorship Election
As Nigerians were busy casting their votes for the candidate of their choice in Saturday’s governorship and state house of assembly elections, about 21 innocent Nigerians were killed in various part of the country.

The Nation reports that the victims died following widespread violence and manipulation of the electoral process by politicians with vested interests.
It was gathered that most of those killed were in the flashpoint states predicted by the security agencies before the polls, although they promised to deploy more personnel to curb the tragedy and maintain law and order.
But, the assurances turned out to be a prank as six deaths were recorded in Rivers, five each in Akwa Ibom and Kebbi, three in Imo, two in Cross River, and one each in Plateau and Bauchi States.
It was learnt that scores of other innocent citizens were either wounded in attacks by thugs, or intimidated by them.
A breakdown of the mayhem across the aforementioned states indicate that, the residence of the Rivers State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Joeba West, in Buguma, Asari Toru Local Government Area of the state was burn down by hoodlums.

Meanwhile, voters turnout generally across the country were low as against the huge enthusiasm seen during the March 28 presidential/national assembly elections.
It was further gathered that Akwa Ibom killings occurred at Mbiabong Etoi, Shelter Afrique (Uyo), Ndiya in Nsit Ubium, Etim Ekpo, and Ini Local Government Areas of the state.
In a related development, the whereabouts of a reporter in one of the local tabloids, Radar Newspaper, Mr. Aniedi Ukpoenang, was unknown last night.
It was gathered that Ukpoenang was abducted by PDP thugs at Ekpeyong Ufum village, Odoro Ikot clan in Essien Udim LGA.
When the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Baba Adisa Bolanta was contacted, he said he could not confirm the killings and promised to call the Commissioner of Police in charge of Akwa Ibom state, Gabriel Achong for confirmation.
“I am not aware that five persons have been killed. Let me call the CP to find out,” Bolanta said.
However, reports from Rivers state indicate that voting has been extended into Sunday, April 12, in some parts of the state following irregularities at some polling stations.
