Rumours on Oyegun sack dismisses

According to leadership, Oyegun an address to journalists at the APC secretariat in Abuja said his recent absence from work was nothing unusual, noting that it was due to malaria.  He said after serving as party chairman for two years he was embarking on a break after the rigours of building the party and a very intense period putting government together up to
this point.  “All that has happened is that I think I deserve a bit of a break and that will start effective Monday and in my absence my deputy here, Engr Segun Oni will cover my beat.

 It is that simple, it is that straightforward. Any speculation about not being in the office is of no consequence.” “On Tuesday, I was down with malaria, I managed on Wednesday to attend that crucial meeting at the presidency, yesterday I had to go to the hospital just to be sure and today I am at work, full stop. So please, please, please I know the press is supposed to be imaginative and steer the news but not when there is really nothing to steer. It is that simple,” he said.
 When asked how long the break would last, he said the break would last for ten working days (two weeks) starting from Monday, February 29. On the arrest of Uche Secondus, the deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  Oyegun dismissed a claim that the on-going anti-graft war was targeted at decimating the leadership of the opposition. He queried the rationale behind the allegation against the APC since those being interrogated were being given the opportunity to clear their names.
