PANIC:Soldier Goes Crazy In Philippines, Kills Five


Army spokesman, Col. Benjamin Hao, said the Killing took place on Thursday, October 22 , inside a camp in the Southern Philippines.According to Hao, nine people comprising eight soldiers and one civilian were wounded in the incident.The shooter was also killed by troops sent to the army camp in Sumisip town of Basilan province.
CNN reports that the gunman, Cpl. Tahiruddin Taha, barged into a Bible study session inside the military camp and opened fire on his fellow soldiers.
“The suspect and the victims were attending a Bible study when he went to the back of the room and opened fire,” Hao affirmed.The Colonel noted that authorities would “look closer at the medical and psychological aspect” to determine the root cause of the incident.Taha indiscriminately fired his M-16 rifle at around 15 members of the 64th Infantry Battalion and a civilian pastor in a camp in Barangay Upper Cabengbeng.
Investigations reveal that the amok soldier had become unusually quiet after his return from a scheduled vacation.According to Philippine regulations, military officers undergo psychological tests annually, and enlisted personnel like Taha take psychological tests every three years.
