Man abandons wife, rescues mother from flood

A Chinese man is facing backlash on social media following a spur-of-the-moment decision he made when faced with a grave situation. According to reports, the man identified as Gao Fengshou, decided to save his mother first before saving his wife and children, when their province was hit by a deadly flood on July 20. Fengshou who is a decorator by profession, had reportedly asked his family to climb onto the roof of their Xingtai, North Hebei province of China home, before going off to rescue his mother.

Seeing as there was no time to think about the situation he was faced with, Fengshou decided to save his mother first. Here’s what he said: “I can’t imagine what went through her mind when I went straight for my mother. Abandoning my mother would be reprehensible, but leaving my wife behind would be unacceptable as well. I know she must be so disappointed in me.” People have taken to social media to condemn his decision. Here’s what one of them reportedly said: “It’s no wonder she left him. Who would want a husband who you can’t rely on in dangerous circumstances?” His wife has reportedly left him along with all the cash they had. What would you do?
