Video That Proved Boko Haram And ISIS The Worst Sexual Abusers In The Whole World

Boko Haram militants along with ISIS jihadists described as the worst sexual abusers in the world by the UN spokeswoman Zainab Bangura.

“I am appalled by reports that hundreds of the recently released female captives were repeatedly raped by Boko Haram militias and compelled to “marry” their captors,” she told. “In order to give rise to a new generation raised in their own image, they [Boko Haram militants]are waging war on women’s physical, sexual and reproductive autonomy and rights,” added Ms. Bangura.

One year after the Chibok Girls abduction many of them are still believed to be held hostages somewhere in Sambisa forest. Bangura told UN still insists on immediate release of the abducted female hostages.  “I reiterate my calls for all abducted women and girls to be immediately released from captivity and returned safely to their families,” she told.

The UN official told that extreme sexual violence is a distinctive feature in Boko Haram terror tactics. The UN official told that she recently met with in the Middle East with female ISIS victims freed from sexual slavery and Boko Haram has a lot in common with ISIS militants in committing atrocities on sexual grounds.

Recently Amnesty International released a documentary about female hostages abducted by Boko Haram since the start of 2014, many of whom have been forced into sexual slavery and trained to fight. It is believed that no less than 2,000 women have been abducted since 2014.

Report, released by Human Rights Watch six months ago has revealed that no fewer 500 women and girls have been abducted by the dreaded Boko Haram sect since 2009 to 2014 and most of them have been forcefully married, while others have been forced to join them in their fight against Nigeria’s security agents.

See Buhari's First Decision As The President

Buhari’s first decision as the president of Nigeria is the order to relocate the military command centre from Abuja to Maiduguri immediately:

“My appeal for unity is predicated on the seriousness of the legacy we are getting into. With depleted foreign reserves, falling oil prices, leakages and debts the Nigerian economy is in deep trouble and will require careful management to bring it round and to tackle the immediate challenges confronting us, namely; Boko Haram, the Niger Delta situation, the power shortages and unemployment especially among young people.
For the longer term we have to improve the standards of our education. We have to look at the whole field of medicare. We have to upgrade our dilapidated physical infrastructure.

The most immediate is Boko Haram’s insurgency. Progress has been made in recent weeks by our security forces but victory can not be achieved by basing the Command and Control Centre in Abuja.

“The command centre will be relocated to Maiduguri and remain until Boko Haram is completely subdued. But we can not claim to have defeated Boko Haram without rescuing the Chibok girls and all other innocent persons held hostage by insurgents.

This government will do all it can to rescue them alive. Boko Haram is a typical example of small fires causing large fires. An eccentric and unorthodox preacher with a tiny following was given posthumous fame and following by his extra judicial murder at the hands of the police.

Since then through official bungling, negligence, complacency or collusion Boko Haram became a terrifying force taking tens of thousands of lives and capturing several towns and villages covering swathes of Nigerian sovereign territory.”

Maiduguri is the capital of Borno state, and it has a strategic meaning for the whole North East. The Boko Haram sect has been mastering a plan to recapture the city since its eviction from the area in 2009.

The terrorists proved that their intentions are serious by launching an attack on Maiduguri, in the midnight of May 29, killing seven people.

In Kwara The NURTW leader shot dead by Police, members storm highway in protest

National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) members were on Saturday, May 30, on rampage in Kwara to protest the killing of their leader who was allegedly shot dead by the police.

The union members in Ajase, Irepodun Local Government Area of the State blocked the highway, refusing any vehicular passage.

The pandemonium broke out after the Union leader, Akeem Laduba, was supposedly shot dead by a police patrol team.

Laduba, who was the Chairman of Ajase-Omu-Aran-Kabba unit of NURTW was said to have been killed along Igbaja-Ajase-Ipo Express Way, Kwara.

An eye witness told NAN, anonymously, that the deceased was trying to intervene in a brawl between the police team and a commercial motorcyclist.

According to the source, Laduba was on his way to Offa, a nearby community, when he stumbled on a police patrol beating up a commercial motorcyclist in the early hours of Saturday.

The source alleged that it was in the process of the deceased trying to intervene in the matter that he was attacked by the policemen who had queried the rationale behind his intervention.

According to the source, the victim became unconscious after he was hit by the bullet and was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital by the police team where he later died.

"Although, I don’t know what the offence of the commercial motorcyclist was, but he was being beaten when the man (deceased) tried to save him.

"And in that process, one of the policemen attacked him, the man retaliated and then the policemen fired a shot,” the source said.

Following Laduba's death, NAN reports that some members of the union stormed and blocked the highway while chanting war songs.

Vehicles going to the neighbouring Kwara towns such as Oke-Onigbin, Omu-Aran, Offa and other states - Otun in Ekiti and Osogbo in Osun were denied passage by the rampaging union members.

It was reported that the members have since left the highway but vehicles passing the route were forced to carry leaves on them in sympathy for the deceased.

The Kwara State Police Public Relation Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, while confirming the incident to NAN, said that the shot fired "was not intentional”.

"It is true a shot was fired by a policeman, but it was not intentional.

"It was even the police that took the man to the hospital but unfortunately he died later,” he said.

However, it is believed that the Union members will not look the other way over the killing. Sources say they are likely to cause major unrest in the town in the coming days.

See Former Manchester Utd defender Rio Ferdinand's statement as he retires from football

Former Manchester United and England defender, Rio Ferdinand on Saturday, May 30 announced his retirement from football.
Check out his full statement

"After 18 years as a professional footballer I now feel it's the right time for me to retire from the game that I love. As a 12 year old boy, kicking around a football on the Friary Estate in Peckham, I never dreamt that I would play for my boyhood club West Ham, captain Leeds United, win the Champions League with Manchester United, or re-join my first manager Harry Redknapp at Queens Park Rangers.

"I will always regard the 81 times that I played for England, with immense pride. These are all treasured memories that will last a lifetime.

"Starting a career, every young man needs mentors. I found mine in Dave Goodwin, the District Manager at Blackheath, and Tony Carr, the Youth Team Manager at West Ham. They installed in me personality traits that lasted throughout my career.

"I will always be grateful to them. I'd like to thank Chris Ramsey, Harry Redknapp, David O'Leary and David Moyes who managed me at various times in my career, all the backroom staff who looked after me over the years, and the players that I played with.

"I'd would also like to thank the team who managed me off the pitch, Jamie Moralee and everybody at New Era. Winning trophies over my thirteen years at Manchester United, allowed me to achieve everything that I desired in football. From a young child to today, that was all I cared about. None of that would have been possible, without the genius of one man, Sir Alex Ferguson.

His greatest accomplishment in my eyes will always be how he developed us as men, not just as footballers. He will in my opinion, always be the greatest manager in British football history. I'd also like to thank and pay tribute to my late wife Rebecca and my family, including my mother and father, for their sacrifices, their encouragement and their advice throughout my career.

"And finally, I'd like to thank all the fans from all the clubs, for without them professional football would not exist. I will miss each and every one of you on my Saturday afternoons.

See How Over 13 Persons deid, 17 injured as terrorists storm Maiduguri

Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly killed at least 13 people and injured 17 in Maiduguri, Borno state today, Saturday, May 29, in was reports described as heavy invasion.

It was said that the terrorists stormed the Borno capital the town with bombs and heavy shootings, leaving many houses destroyed.

A member of the youth vigilance group, anonymously told Punch that the insurgents attempted to invade the distressed town at about 12.50 early this morning from the Ajilari Cross and Bintu Sugar areas of the town.

He said the soldiers quickly engaged them before they could overrun the town.

“The insurgents were successfully repelled after the heavy shelling, gunshots and explosions. They fled into the dark towards the direction they came from,” he said.

He could not however determine the casualty figure. It is believed that the number may be higher given the intensity of the attack.

A resident of Gomari, part of Maiduguri, which shares neighborhood with Bintu Sugar, Ibrahim Iliya, said five residents of the area were killed in the attempted invasion.

Iliya said a stray bullet killed a man who was sleeping in the open as a result of the harsh weather.

The (NUTGTWN) Labour declares support for Buhari on power supply

The National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN), say Labour is ready to partner with President Muhammadu Buhari to realise the vision of uninterrupted power supply.

The General Secretary, NUTGTWN, Isa Aremu, made the pledge in a statement made available to NAN on Saturday, May 30 in Kaduna.

The statement quoted Aremu as saying, “we are with President Buhari and it is indeed a shame that with over $20billion investment in the power sector since 1999, Nigeria generates less than 4,000 MW."

"Without electricity there can be no industrialisation.

“The promise and expectation that the President will revive textile industry is not possible without electricity.

"It is remarkable that the President frontally identified some national problems: It is only then that the problems we can be shamed and tamed.

"It is refreshing that President Buhari recognises the role of non-state institutions such as labour unions, organised private sector, the press and civil society organisations in the great task of national renewal.

"Labour will partner with new administration in wealth generation, service delivery and income distribution through social dialogue and collective bargaining with the existing labour market institutions.

"It is commendable that President Buhari has promised to reform and re-build the public service and check corruption in the states and local governments,” he said.

He, however, said the reform should ensure greater service delivery and productivity, saying it should not lead to job losses in an already depressed labour market characterised by high unemployment.

Isa assured the new President of the labour’s cooperation in the direction of wealth generation, job creation and job retention.

The HIV/AIDS Study shows immediate treatment of disease after diagnosis reduces death rate

Findings from a trial have suggested that HIV drugs should be administered at the moment of diagnosis.

According to the study, early drug administration is highly beneficial and could change the way millions of people are treated.

The US National Institutes of Health conducted the trial on 4,685 people in 35 countries and compared the World Health Organization(WHO) approach stipulating that treatment should start when there are fewer than 500 white blood cells in every cubic millimetre of blood, with immediate treatment.

Subsequently, an interim analysis of the data showed that cases of Aids, deaths and complications, such as kidney or liver disease, had already been halved by early treatment.

All patients on the trial are now being offered antiretroviral drugs.

According to director of NIH's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci,

"We now have clear-cut proof that it is of significantly greater health benefit to an HIV-infected person to start antiretroviral therapy sooner rather than later."

Also speaking on the advantage of the finding, Michel Sidibe, executive director of at UNAids, said:

"Every person living with HIV should have immediate access to life-saving antiretroviral therapy. Delaying access to HIV treatment under any pretext is denying the right to health."

Nigeria earns N2.8trn from petroleum products in 3 months

According to a data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Nigeria earned N2.838 trillion from the export of petroleum products in the first quarter of 2015.

The amount is 64.18 per cent of the Federal Government’s 2015 budget of N4.425 trillion.

The NBS, in its Foreign Trade Statistics for the first quarter of the year, stated that the export of petroleum products accounted for 87.86 per cent of Nigeria’s total merchandise export of N3.23 trillion in Q1.

Giving a breakdown of the petroleum products export, the NBS disclosed that crude oil emerged the highest exported commodity in the quarter under review, valued at N2.251 trillion, representing 69.7 per cent of the country’s total export.

The value of the country’s crude oil export in the first quarter of 2015 represents an appreciation of 0.54 per cent when compared against N2.239 trillion recorded in the preceding quarter. The amount is, however, a decline of 30.4 per cent from total crude oil export of N3.234 trillion recorded in the first quarter of 2014.

West African giants to become Africa’s super power

May 29, 2015 marks a new beginning for Nigeria – as it transits power from the incumbent to the opposition party. After ruling for six years, President Goodluck Jonathan will handover to Muhammadu Buhari after losing out in the 2015 President elections.

After the transition takes place – all eyes are on Nigeria – will the West African nation finally become the ‘Super Power’ of Africa?

With monikers such as ‘The Giant of Africa’, it’s a bit disappointing to know Nigeria still does not rank as the number one country, despite being the most populous black nation in the world.

A number of factors have held the West African ‘giant’ from claiming a position it should have attained decades ago. With Buhari coming in as President (on his fourth attempt), many have enthused that in a matter of time, these problems can be solved – thereby leading the country to a new phase with many possibilities.

Economy Instability
With its declining welfare and social instability, Nigeria's huge economic potential has been marred by economic stagnation in its history. Despite abundant resources and coastal location, Nigeria has failed to grow and dominate Africa, only realising little of this potential.

The last few years have however seen rapid growth, much of which has been attributed to foreign investment, and credit has been given to Jonathan administration which has attempted to seize the opportunity. Nigeria’s economy became the largest in Africa (yes, bigger than South Africa’s).

But on the large scale – it has looked like the nation witnessed growth without development.

Buhari has the next four years to use the ‘budding’ economy, which has in the last few years set up itself, as Launchpad for something great. This will be a giant step

Security
One of the major setbacks in the Jonathan administration was insecurity. Boko Haram, the jihadist group based in north-eastern Nigeria, rose from a common radical group to a full blown militia with backing from ISIS in the last five years.

With Nigeria’s failure to nip the group’s activities at the bud years ago, Boko Haram has grown in numbers (about 7000 members) and now occupy 6,704 square miles in the country.

The Government’s inability to deal with this security threat was evidently shown with the abduction of over 200 schoolgirls in April 2014. Over a year later, the girls are yet to be rescued.

Many believe Buhari will fasten the eradication of Boko Haram – the retired Major-General’s experience as a Military leader looks like an advantage already.

“There is no doubt that in tackling the insurgency, we have a tough and urgent job to do”, Buhari said in his acceptance speech in April 2015.

“…with the cooperation of our neighbours; Cameroon, Niger, Chad and the international community and the commitment we are going to get from the military, it will take us a much shorter time to deal with them”, Buhari stated in a 2015 interview with the BBC.

Fuel Subsidy
The last days of the Jonathan administration have been marred with scarcity of petroleum products, especially Petrol and Diesel. Experts have described it as the worst fuel scarcity in years, lasting for close to a month.

Worse still, the scarcity has been reported to be an artificial creation of the oil marketers in attempts to force the Federal Government to pay subsidy debt allegedly owed them before a new administration is inaugurated on May 29, 2015.

While Jonathan remained silent on this, Buhari has been gathering data that will press forward a policy on the downstream sector of the petroleum industry, while his administration finds a solution to scarcity of products. He has already been making contacts with relevant stakeholders on how to effectively implement the subsidy regime.

Corruption
Many will enthuse that the last 6 years has stripped the country of its credibility in handling corruption allegations, with a hundred and one accusations levelled against the Jonathan administration.

A lack of integrity was seemingly established in 2013 when the then Central Bank Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi claimed that $20bn earning in oil could not be accounted for by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). The FG’s response to this was to have Sanusi replaced, citing the allegation as a case of ‘financial recklessness and misconduct’.

Another instance is the case of Buruji Kashamu – a member of Jonathan’s political party PDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party). Kashamu was recently elected as a Senator in Ogun State while a warrant for his arrest in the United States (for an alleged conspiracy to smuggle heroin) has been filed since 1998.

In the military coup of 1983, Buhari justified the military's seizure of power by chastising the then civilian government as ‘hopelessly corrupt’. Millions of Buhari supporters believe the 72-year-old will continue in this light as he resumes power this May.

Will the fangs of corruption be finally pulled out from Nigeria? A question many think has a positive answer.

And that might just be Buhari and Osinbajo’s modus operandi in making Nigeria the super power of the African continent.

See The Real Reason Behind Fuel Scarcity In Nigeria

According to the Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Sunny Nkpe, Nigeria is constantly plagued with fuel crises because it’s not using its refineries.

Nkpe disclosed this on Monday, May 25, 2015, during a telephone interview with Pulse.

The IPMAN Chairman stated further that Nigeria’s refineries can produce 50-60% of the fuel the country needs but they’ve been shut down for more than a year.

“We have refineries that can refine 450,000 barrels of crude oil per day, that’s millions of litres of refined product,” he said.

“Why are we not using the refineries? Let them use the refineries,” Nkpe said.

An industry insider, who chose to remain anonymous, told Pulse that the relevant government agencies refuse to use the local refineries to produce the country’s needs because there’s much more money to be fraudulently gotten from importing the product.

“They are knowingly boycotting the refineries,” she said. “They make more money with importation due to corruption and fraud,” she added.

The fuel subsidy regime in Nigeria has come to be viewed as a huge scam, a notion buttressed by the 2014 arrest of 121 suspects, who were believed to have benefited from it, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The current scarcity is said to be an artificial creation of the marketers in attempts to force the government to pay the remaining subsidy debt it owes them before a new administration is inaugurated on May 29, 2015.

Meanwhile, the marketers have called of their strike and are expected to begin supplying product nationwide to end the scarcity.

However, until the real problems causing the scarcity are resolved, Nigerians are left asking how long it will be before the next crisis occurs.
