According to report, the Igbos swallowed their pride and begged for pardon from Oba Adelusi.

This peace move between the palace and the Igbo community was made possible with the intervention of the Ondo state government to resolve the matter.

Governor Fayose Blasts President Buhari

Boko Haram Fighters Killed and Many Rescued by Military in Borno

Supreme Court strikes out Agabje’s appeal against Ambode


The Supreme Court yesterday struck out the appeal filed by Jimi Agbaje, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Lagos.

Agabje appealed the decision of the Court of Appeal, Lagos, which upheld the decision of the governorship election petition tribunal and dismissed the appeal he filed with his party.

The tribunal had, in its judgment on June 20, dismissed the petition jointly filed by Agabje and his party challenging the victory of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akinwunmi Ambode, on the grounds that it was incompetent.

N600b Calabar-Katsina-Ala highway to boost economy

Rivers orders Amaechi, others to return N97bn


Rivers State Government on Friday ordered the immediate past governor of the state, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, former military administrator of the state, Anthony Ukpo (retd.) and others who had held public offices in the past to return N97bn.

Don’t frustrate Buhari, governors


A Lagos-based advocacy group, the Law and Good Governance Group, has urged the national and states’ Houses of Assembly to be wary of spurious petitions against certain nominated persons.

The LGGG on Friday said it was particularly concerned about certain petitions that were purportedly written in respect of certain retired civil servants being considered for cabinet positions in Lagos State.

It said the lawmakers must be vigilant and be seen to be guided by the constitution so as not to allow the hallowed chambers to be used to frustrate either the President or any state governor in the choice of their cabinet members.

EFCC nabs 2 with 556 ATM cards, travellers’ cheques


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested two Nigerians with a shocking 556 banking instruments, with which they had been using to commit unsuspecting large scale fraud.

The two men-Jonathan Odu Isikwei and Paschal Onuora Udeh   were picked up operatives of the commission for unlawful possession of   448 travelers’ cheques and 108 Automated Teller Machine (ATM)/Debit cards.

Jonathan Odu Isikwei was found with 448 travelers’ cheques, while Pascal Onuora Udeh, 34, was arrested with 108 ATM cards on his way to China.

Iran's supreme leader bans Negotiations with the United States Ban by Iran's supreme leader


 Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday banned any further negotiations between Iran and the United States, putting the breaks on moderates hoping to end Iran's isolation after reaching a nuclear deal with world powers in July.

Khamenei, the highest authority in the Islamic Republic, already said last month there would be no more talks with the United States after the nuclear deal, but has not previously declared an outright ban.

Those against Buhari’s ministerial position are crooks


The Presidency on Sunday said President Muhammadu Buhari had not broken any law by his decision to serve as the Minister of Petroleum Resources.

Buhari had while granting interview last week during his visit to New York said he would head the ministry, saying he would only appoint a Minister of State to assist him.

The decision has however attracted criticisms from some people who have argued that the nation’s constitution forbids a sitting President from holding another public office.

N287.4bn loss from operations-NNPC records


Over N287.4bn loss is being recorded yearly by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation from the operations of its subsidiaries across the country despite the fact that it is meant to be a profitable business venture.

The corporation is losing about N250bn yearly as a result of the inefficiencies of the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company alone, which is one of its subsidiaries, according to figures made available by the national oil company.

The PPMC’s N250bn loss accounts for about 87 per cent of the corporation’s aggregate loss by implication.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday in Abuja reaffirmed the determination of his administration to rid the country of extremism as a way of eradicating violence in the country.
