Stephen Keshi agrees new N6million contract to continue as Super Eagles’ coach

by Mark Bassey
Head coach of the Super Eagles coach,
Stephen Keshi, has agreed to sign
a N6million contract to stay on as gaffer of
the senior male national football team.

He will sign the agreement with the Nigeria
Football Federation and the Sports Ministry
once the NFF crisis is resolved.
On the evening of Thursday, 28 August, the
Sports Minister and Chairman of the
National Sports Commission, NSC, Tamuno
Danagogo, disclosed to journalists in Abuja,
that the current crisis has been the major
factor hindering Keshi’s contract signing.

Danagogo said, “We all know that Keshi’s
contract expired after the World Cup and
we were trying to see whether they would
negotiate with him, then Maigari was
suspended.

Umeh came in and reopened
talks with him. They said they cannot pay.
But we have a match on September 6 so I
had to intervene.”
He added that his intervention into the
matter prompted Keshi to agree to a new
contract.
“I asked Keshi if he was desirous to handle
the team again and he said yes. I then
asked him to come, assuring him that I
would take care of what it takes for him to
handle the team for the two matches we
have in September after which we can talk
about the contract,” he said.
He also revealed that the N1 million naira
was the difference between the contract
offered to Keshi by the Federation and
what he requested.

The Minister said, “It is
just about N1 million and we believe that it
is no longer a challenge.”
Stephen Keshi has been the coach of the
Nigerian national team since 2011, and he
went on to become the first Nigerian to win
the Africa Cup of Nations as both a player
and a coach at the 2013 tournament. He
subsequently took the team to the second
round of the 2014 world cup in Brazil,
where his contract expired.

Ever since then, he has been in talks with
the Nigerian football federation over an
improved contract, but the negotiations
have stalled, largely because of the crisis at
the NFF.

The crisis which has been ongoing for
months has seen the football body
factionalised, with Chris Giwa having a set
of loyalists, while Aminu Maigari, also
claiming to still be the President of the
federation.

Maigari was arrested alongside Musa
Amadu, the NFF Secretary-General, and
Chris Green, a board member, by the State
Security Service, SSS, on Tuesday, 26
August.

Akpos Joke: Christian

A dog died and the owner took it to
pastor Akpos.
He asked Akpos if he could organise a
funeral service for the dead animal.
Pastor Akpos: No, we can’t hold a service
for your dog in our church. But there is a
church down the street, maybe they will
do it for you.
Man: But pastor, will that church accept a
donation of $ 1million?
Pastor Akpos shouted and asked, “why
didn’t you tell me the dog was a
Christian?”

Akpos Joke: Ebola

Akpos was abducted by kidnappers and
taken to an unknown location.
The kidnappers beat him for a while and
asked him, “Which of your family
members should we call to pay the
ransom.”
A surprised Akpos replied: “I don’t have a
family now. All my family
members ran away after I was suddenly
bugged down with fever, intense
weakness, muscle pain, headache and
sore throat. This was followed by
vomiting, diarrhoea, rash…
Akpos did not even finish speaking before
all the kidnappers jumped out of windows
and fled.

Akpos Joke: Rare wife

Akpos and his friend, Ochuko go out for
fishing.
Ochuko tells Akpos he is getting a divorce.
“Why,” Akpos asked.
“Because my wife hasn’t spoken to me in
2 weeks!” he replied.
Akpos was quiet for a long time as he
gazed at the water. Then he said: “I would
re-consider if I were you. Such wives are
rare.”

Akpos Joke: Pack your things

One day, Akpos and his girlfriend were
seriously having a quarrel.
They shouted and insulted each other.

Then Akpos suddenly said to her, ”PACK
YOUR THINGS AND…”
At that moment, a phone call came in for
her, so Akpos stopped speaking.

She answered the call and lo, it was her
rich dad. She put the call on speaker.

After the pleasantries, her father said, ”I
have sent $100,000 into your account.
Give Akpos $40,000 naira out of it and
use the rest for your upkeep, okay?”
“Okay.” she dropped the phone, turned to
Akpos and asked, ”So, you were saying?”

Akpos quickly readjusted and answered,
”I SAID, PACK YOUR THINGS AND GIVE
THEM TO ME FOR WASHING.”

Akpos Joke: Future Tense

The following conversation ensured
between Akpos and his teacher in an
English class.
TEACHER: “I killed a person”, convert it to
future tense.
AKPOS:
The future tense is, “You will go to jail”.

THINK TWICE

When you are in bright light. Everyone Will Follow you But when you are in darkness even your own shadow will not follow you.

Don’t prioritize your friends over your family. Friends come and go but your family will be with you even when you’ve fallen.

You can’t blame someone for walking away if you didn’t do anything to make them stay.

Physical strength is measured by what we can carry and inner strength by what we can bear.

Akpos Joke: Small ailment

Akpos went to the doctor concerning an
ailment he had. The following
conversation took place between them:

AKPOS: Please don’t laugh at me when I
reveal my ailment.

DOCTOR: Of course I won’t laugh! I have
been in this profession for 30 years now
and I have never laughed at a patient no
matter the ailment.

AKPOS: OK then. Akpos proceeded to
drop his trousers and boxer, revealing
the tinniest penis the doctor had ever
seen which was no bigger than a biro
cover. Unable to control himself, the
doctor started giggling, then fell laughing
to the floor.
Ten minutes later he was able to struggle
to his feet and regain his composure.

“I’m
so sorry,” said the doctor. “I really am. I
don’t know what came over me. On my
honour as a doctor and a gentleman, I
promise it won’t happen again.

Now,
what seems to be the problem? Do you
want a penis enlargement?”

Akpos replied, “No, my penis is swollen.”

TODAY'S MORNING DEVOTION/ BIBLE READING

Topic: Right motive wrong atitude

Text: 1 Samuel 16:7 ...for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

Lesson: Man sees only your attitude and never your motives. God sees motives. If a result must be achieved good intentions are not enough you must have good attitude to it too. Some do good just to achieve their wrong motives and yet achieve their result despite their bad intentions. Once people perceive in you a wrong attitude they care no more about your motives. Good motive is as good as good attitude. Coat your good motives with good attitude and your result effortlessly will be achieved as people will buy into your vision. God looks at the heart but man certainly will judge you by your attitude so create and maintain right attitude. Good motives makes you acceptable before God but good attitude makes you acceptable before men. Men with God given vision has failed due to wrong attitude. Learn the right ways to achieve you good intentions.
Prayer: Father help me develope good attitude before all in Jesus name.

Amazing Thought

If you really love someone, TIME and DISTANCE will not make you forget them.

Never let your failures get to your heart and never let your success get to your head.

Never forget to say I love you if you love someone b’coz you’ll never know when it might be the last time.

Stop thinking in terms of limitations and start thinking in terms of possibilities.

5 Tips That Really Work On Being Attractive

1) GROOMING

Dr. Nicholson says that
grooming is the most
important variable when it
comes to attractiveness, and
can really make or break
your chances with someone.
Brush your teeth. Comb your
hair. Shower . Keep your
fingernails neat

2) CLOTHING
Again, no matter what your
personal clothing style is,
neatness is of the utmost
importance.
“The research says that three
aspects of clothing are
required to be attractive –
neat, well fitting, and more
formal. Put plainly, your
clothes need to be clean,
pressed, and well
maintained."
Additionally, when it comes
to attracting someone, it’s
better to be overdressed than
under dressed.

3) POSTURE
The easiest, cheapest, and
best thing you’ll ever do for
your dating life is to simply
stand up a little straighter . As
Dr. Nicholson says, good
posture is sexy.

4) FITNESS
Don’t worry, you don’t have
to run out and get a personal
trainer for a total body
overhaul. You just have to,
again, take relatively good
care of yourself, which can
be achieved with moderate
exercise three times a week.

5) ATTITUDE
One of the most surprising
finds of the study was that
“pleasantness” rated pretty
highly among both sexes.
This means being happy,
positive, and friendly in
attitude. In the immortal
words of the little orphan
Annie : “You’re never fully
dressed without a
smile.” (But seriously: just
being nice shows way more
self-confidence and ease than
being shy or sarcastic does
and it’s really attractive.)
So, see? You’re already way
hotter than you probably
give yourself credit for. It’s
easy to maximize your
physical attractiveness
through small changes.

Make Yourself Highly Attractive

Here are five simple ways to focus
on yourself in a positive way, letting and
making yourself highly attractive as
a result:

1. Make a list of what you
appreciate about yourself.You have
unique qualities that are all your
own. There isn't anyone on the
planet who is exactly like you. Let's
celebrate that!
Ask yourself the following:Who am I? What's
great about me? How am I unique?
Write your answers down on paper.
Then, appreciate yourself! The more
you do this, the better you'll feel.

2. Make a list of who you want to
become.
We are all simultaneously being and
becoming. So who are you
evolving into?
Ask yourself: Who do I want to
become? and write your goals down
on paper.
As you think about your desires and
hopes for the future, you're
honoring your dreams. This makes
you excited for what's to come, and
strengthens your belief.

3. Spend quality time with
yourself (
daily).
Quality time is important in all
relationships ;including the
relationship you have with yourself.
There are many things you can do
during quality time with you ;
reading, running, hiking, meditating,
listening to music, thinking,
journaling, making art, cooking ,
the possibilities are endless.
Just do something that you like to
do and enjoy your own company!

4. Get to know your fears.
Nothing boosts confidence quite like
making it through challenges. By
facing your fears, you get to prove
what you're made of.
Ask yourself: What am I scared of?
and then challenge it.
Look your fears in the eye and show
'm who's boss. It's the only way
you're going to move past them into
a better way of life.
5. Do something nice for yourself
today.
This is your life. It's going to be as
good as you make it. Take charge of
your well-being by doing nice things
for yourself every single day.
A "nice thing" could be anything
that makes you happy — write
yourself a love note, take a walk in a
park, pat yourself on the back, smile
at yourself in the mirror. Treat
yourself with supreme kindness and
respect. Your inner confidence will
soar as a result.
The more you love and accept
yourself, the less you'll focus on
what other people think. And,
ironically, the less you focus on
what other people think, the more
attractive you become.
Practice these techniques; get to
know who you really are. Your
confidence will skyrocket as a result,
and your relationships will flourish,
too.

10 dead in Boko Haram attacks: witnesses

Suspected Boko Haram gunmen
killed 10 people who had fled their
homes to escape repeated attacks by
the insurgents, after hunting them
down in a nearby village, witnesses said
on Monday.
Residents of Krenuwa village fled to
nearby communities after a Boko
Haram raid last month that left seven
dead and saw the extremists raze a
military camp, police station and
several homes.
About a dozen militants stormed the
villages of Durwa and Maforo in the
Marte district on Sunday, where some
of them were seeking refuge.
"They came on motorcycles and
gathered people before singling out
their victims who moved in from
Krenuwa after it was attacked", said
Usman Ari, a Durwa resident.
"They shot six of them dead and
slaughtered four," said Ari, who fled to
the Borno state capital, Maiduguri,
some 100 kilometres (60 miles) away
after the attack.
After the attack in Durwa, where six
were killed, the suspected Boko Haram
gunmen stormed nearby Maforo and
killed four, said Hassan Goni, another
Durwa resident, who also fled to
Maiduguri.
"We are afraid they are going to come
back for more attacks which is why we
left, he added.
After the attack on Krenuwa village, a
counter-offensive by soldiers killed five
insurgents and captured five more.
Krenuwa resident Abba Kolomi said
Boko Haram had also killed six people
from the village who sought refuge
across the border in Chad.
The Marte district was one of the areas
where Boko Haram chased out the
government last year, forcing President
Goodluck Jonathan to declare a state of
emergency in the region and a military
offensive to crush the uprising.

Prof. Chukwu further
clarified that Ebola is still restricted to Lagos,

Nigeria trains 800 volunteers to fight Ebola

Nigeria has trained 800
volunteers to help fight the deadly Ebola
epidemic that has already claimed four
lives in Africa's most populous country,
a regional governor spokesperson said
on Saturday.
Authorities in the country's largest city of
Lagos last week appealed for volunteers
to make up for a shortage of medical
personnel because of a six-week
doctors' strike over pay.

Ebola could take six months to control,

The Ebola outbreak has so far claimed
more than 1,100 lives in Sierra Leone,
Guinea, Liberia and Nigeria.
The medical charity MSF has said the
outbreak is moving faster than aid
organisations can handle while the
World Health Organization said the
scale of the epidemic had been vastly
underestimated.
The latest test in Scotland comes after
an athlete from Sierra Leone,
competing at the 2014 Commonwealth
Games in Glasgow was tested and
found to be clear of Ebola

Woman in Scotland tests negative for Ebola

Pardew says his Newcastle team look strong

United's new captain Wayne Rooney
equalised early in the second period,
but Gylfi Sigurdsson earned Swansea
victory in the 72nd minute with a
close-range finish.
It gave Swansea back-to-back wins at
Old Trafford, following their shock FA
Cup success in January, and was a
reversal of United's 4-1 win at the
Liberty Stadium on the first day of last
season.
Injuries obliged Van Gaal to give
competitive debuts to Tyler Blackett,
20, and 21-year-old Jesse Lingard.
Lingard's day was to last only 24
minutes, however, as he was forced off
after appearing to jar his knee in a
challenge with visiting captain Ashley
Williams.
United bossed possession in the first
half, but Swansea struck from their first
sight of goal, with Ki stroking home a
lay-off from Sigurdsson.
Swansea's fans burst into a chorus of
'You're getting sacked in the morning!'
aimed at Van Gaal, who sat impassively
in his seat in the dug-out.
The Dutchman introduced Nani in place
of striker Javier Hernandez at half-time,
and United responded immediately.
Juan Mata's right-wing corner was
flicked on by Phil Jones and Rooney
hooked home a spectacular close-range
volley at the back post.
Rooney came close to putting United
ahead with a free-kick that hit the
outside of the post in the 66th minute.

Swansea stun Man United

Louis van Gaal's
Manchester United reign got off to a
false start on Saturday as Swansea City
won 2-1 in the season's opening
Premier League game at Old Trafford.
Van Gaal was taking charge of his first
competitive game as United manager,
but his new side exhibited many of the
same failings from last season - when
they finished seventh - as they slumped
to a surprise defeat.
South Korea midfielder Ki Sung-yueng
exploited inattentive marking to give
Swansea a 28th-minute lead with a
left-foot shot from the edge of the
box.

Liberia opening 2nd Ebola center in capital

Authorities in Liberia are

patients after the existing one in the

patients.
Assistant Health Minister Tolbert
Nyenswah said the first center was only
meant to treat 25 people and now has
about 80 patients.
The new center opening Saturday will
have 120 beds but may eventually be
tripled in size because of the ongoing
crisis

I don’t wish to be everything to everyone, but I would like to be something to someone and that is you. All the same thanks so much for coming to see,I really appreciate that.
I am only trying to be who I am but as time goes on u will understand me

I want to hold your hands, look in your eyes and enjoy everything that you want to say to me but you are using conditions.

You may say that I talk too much dear, but I have to say my mind
"Forever is not a word rather a place where two lovers go when true love takes them there"
Have u thought of TRUE love?

I’m not Shakespeare to write about you, I am not Piccaso to Paint you, I am just Sly who wants to say “I am always with you” good night

Lagos to review ban on Okada

In an apparent move to woo
Okara riders and maintain the All
Progressives Congress (APC) hold on
power in Lagos come 2015, the Lagos
state House of Assembly has agreed to
review some of the roads where okada
riders's operations had been previously
restricted.
The move by the House followed
constant complaints from people about
police harassments and intimidation of
okada riders on approved routes.

In Liberia village, shunned Ebola victims left to die

The only sounds in the
abandoned Liberian village were the
cries of a little girl, shut up with her
mother's body inside the family home,
starving and thirsty as she waited for
death.
Eventually even the girl - 12-year-old
Fatu Sherrif - fell silent as she too
succumbed to the deadly Ebola virus
that is ravaging her country and other
parts of west Africa.
When AFP visited Fatu's village of
Ballajah on Sunday, she had been
locked away with her mother's body for
a week after most residents fled to the
forest to escape an outbreak of the
virus.
Belongings lay abandoned around the
village, the doors of some homes left
open by those rushing to leave.
A few villagers remained, including
Momoh Wile, a septuagenarian local
chief, who told AFP Fatu's harrowing
story.

Second Lagos Nurse Tests Positive For Ebola — FG

The development came 22 days after the first
first case of the virus was recorded.

The minister explained that the newly married
nurse was among those that had direct contact
with the late Liberian man, Patrick Sawyer,
who imported the disease to Nigeria.
Chukwu also added that the husband of the
nurse was also among the 177 people who had
now been placed under surveillance.

He added that, so far, nine have developed
EVD,thus bringing the total number of cases in
Nigeria to 10.

According to him, two people, that is the
Liberian and the nurse are dead while eight
are alive and currently on treatment.

He also said all those who had primary contact
with Sawyer had been contacted and placed on
either surveillance or quarantined.

The minister also said the infection of the
virus had so far been restricted to Lagos as it
had not spread to other parts of the country

Ebola: US Finally Agrees To Give Liberia Experimental Drug

The Liberian president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf,
announced yesterday that their country is to
receive sample doses of experimental drug,
ZMapp to treat doctors infected with Ebola
A statement published on Mrs Sirleaf’s website
on Monday said the US had approved a request
from Liberia to ship the medicine after a direct
appeal to US President Barack Obama on
Friday.

Spokesperson for the US Health and
Human Services (HHS) Department said US
authorities had simply assisted in connecting
the Liberian government with the drug’s
manufacturer, insisting that the drug company
had worked directly with the Liberian
government.

The deaths from Ebola has passed
the 1,000 mark. Late yesterday, the World
Health Organization said 1,013 people have
now died from Ebola.

Ebola: China Sends Medical Supplies To Guinea, Liberia And Sierra Leone

The aid materials which were brought by a
special chartered flight from China included
personal protective gears, gloves and glasses as
well as chlorine and other medicines to help
fight the disease.
China announced on Sunday it would dispatch
three expert teams and medical supplies to
Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone to help the
three West African countries fight against the
outbreak of the virus.
This is the second batch of Ebola relief
provided by China to West Africa. China
delivered its first batch of supplies in May,
mostly for disease prevention, control and
treatment, to Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and
Guinea-Bissau.

Chinese President Xi Jinping sent messages on
Sunday separately to Guinean President Alpha
Conde, Sierra Leone President Ernest Koroma
and Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf,
expressing sympathy and solicitude for human
and economic losses caused by the Ebola
outbreak.

Receiving the materials on behalf of the
President, the government and people of Sierra
Leone, the Deputy Minster of Foreign Affairs,
Ebun Strasser-King said the Chinese
government demonstrated that “a friend in
need is a friend indeed. ”
She noted that the Ebola “took us by surprise
and met us when we were ill prepared for
it“. It is in this vein that the government and
people welcome this
gesture by the Chinese. She maintained that
“our friendship has been based on
friendship and brotherhood. ”
