 The 17-year-old student apparently climbed to the top of a building in Vologda, Russia, with a companion with the intention of creating a photo of himself dangling off the towering structure.

Armed with rope and his phone, he approached the edge of the rooftop in the fading light and lowered himself over it. But seconds later, the rope gave way and he plummeted nine floors, according to local media reports.

Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has rubbished reports that the Federal Government has broken off its relationship with Tompolo’s company which is in charge of pipeline security in parts of the country, according to Thisday.

Uneasy calm pervades the Polytechnic Ibadan following the death of a student on Tuesday morning due to alleged negligence on the part of staff at the institution's medical Centre.


The deceased, Akintaro Raphael, was said to be an ND1 part -time student of Electrical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at the institution . The incident led to violent protest by the students during which facilities at the health centre were destroyed and some workers at the health Centre were beaten up.

Zainab Labbo, a 65 year old woman was given twelve strokes of cane in Isa town, Sokoto State over witchcraft allegations.

The incident happened at the palace of the District Head, Alhaji Nasiru Malami Ahmed, in response to a complaint made against her by a daughter-in-law.

The daughter-in-law alleged Zainab of using witchcraft to make her son maltreat her, the daughter-in-law. The palace authorities then quickly tried Zainab and found her guilty.

Adamawa State was reportedly thrown into confusion Friday after Governor Jibrilla Bindow swore in Aliyu Tola, a man, as the Commissioner for Women Affairs.

Mr. Tola was inaugurated alongside 20 other commissioners in the state.

Women Affairs ministries at state and federal levels of government, are seen as symbols of gender balance, and are traditionally headed by females. The ministry handles issues affecting women.
