court denies prosecutor appeal on Zuma graft charges

South Africa's Constitutional Court has told the state prosecutor it cannot appeal a ruling to reinstate corruption charges against President Jacob Zuma, another setback for the embattled leader.
The High Court in April ordered a review of a National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) decision to set aside hundreds of corruption charges against Zuma, calling it "irrational". That decision allowed Zuma to run for president in 2009.

Jose Mourinho refuses to conduct Manchester United press conference in 40C room in Beijing

Manchester United's pre-season tour descended into farce in China as Jose Mourinho was forced to conduct an open-air press conference - because of the sweltering heat.

Mourinho refused to conduct his media conference - ahead of Monday's clash with Manchester City in Beijing - in a cramped room at Beijing's Olympic Sports Centre because of the temperature.

United's training session and Mourinho's press conference were switched from the Bird's Nest Stadium, where the game is being held, because of problems with the pitch.

CRIES in Ibadan Poly as Student Dies at Medical Centre

Uneasy calm pervades the Polytechnic Ibadan following the death of a student on Tuesday morning due to alleged negligence on the part of staff at the institution's medical Centre.


The deceased, Akintaro Raphael, was said to be an ND1 part -time student of Electrical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at the institution . The incident led to violent protest by the students during which facilities at the health centre were destroyed and some workers at the health Centre were beaten up.
